“I filed. I thought that was the hard part.
I thought deciding to leave would mean clarity.
But I was completely unprepared for what came next.”
It didn’t feel like freedom. It felt like walking off a cliff into paperwork, silence, and lawyer emails that made me feel like I was already losing.
Everyone kept asking if I had a lawyer.
No one asked how I was sleeping.
Or if I understood the forms I just signed.
Or how I was supposed to co-parent with someone who suddenly felt like a stranger.
I used to manage million-dollar marketing budgets. Now I couldn’t manage my own inbox.
And then someone in a Facebook group sent me a link.
Not to a lawyer. Not to advice.
To something called Splitifi.
I didn’t know what it was. But it didn’t ask for money up front.
It just asked: “Where are you in this process?”
And for the first time since all this started, I didn’t feel judged for not knowing the answer.
So here I am. Trying to figure this out.
One form, one calendar, one email at a time.
More soon.
